Another Cool RhinoCAM Project from Insight Exhibits, LLC

Insight Exhibits, LLC, located in Carmel New York, is one of a handful of design/build shops in the United States who specializes in the design and fabrication of museum quality exhibits. Scott Hoefer, owner/operator of Insight Exhibits uses RhinoCAM exclusively for all of his projects. In this project, Scott and the crew fabricated the 4’x4’x6” Ampersand prop shown here for a recent trade show from a 2D DXF file using RhinoCAM toolpaths. The objective was to design it very light yet strong so that it could be carried from one place to another by a single person. The piece has a satin Lacquer finish and a final weight of 42 Pounds. The RhinoCAM toolpaths are shown below.

Here we see the RhinoCAM MILL plugin loaded with all of the toolpaths needed for this project. Under Setup 1 we have a MOp Set (i.e., Machining Operation Set) named Baltic birch MOp Set. In this folder we see the operations needed for this sheet including 2½ Axis Engraving & Pocketing as well as both rough and finish Profiling. The cut material simulation for the entire MOp Set is displayed. (Top Right) Here we see the sheet being machined on Scott's Techno CNC Router.
