Our friends at PolyFab Corporation (Wilmington, MA) just shared this cool RhinoCAM project they recently completed for designer Alvin Winant (PlaceUniqueForms.com) and the Nantucket Historical Association. This raised topology of Nantucket Island will be outside the museum for kids to play on and cover with water! The project is also designed as a coffee table top that will be filled with clear acrylic and placed under glass. See below for more information about Alvin Winant and PolyFab.
The 3D model of Nantucket Island is cut from a 4′ x 8′ x 3″ block of baltic birch. It is roughed down using a 1-1/4 end mill in several levels using 3 Axis Horizontal Finishing. A great shout-out to Preston Fiske and his team at PolyFab Corporation for allowing us to showcase their RhinoCAM work!
