Mold cutting question...

Post by salewis »

Newbie alert....

I have a negative mold that was designed in SW and set to me for further processing. This mold is a nosecone and has two sides open (top and left).

I cannot get the process/procedure to cut the internal cavity. I would like to utilize VMPro as much as possible as I don't have access to SW.

I appreciate any help including references to documentation and links.

Check out the projects section in this page and scroll down to the last project.

This project shows how to machine a simple mold for a ring. Maybe this will get you started.

Got it figured out with the help of MecSoft and lots of tries....

Use "section curves" under curves, then click on pick point on model, key in level of boundary (for me this was very near the top), press ok.

Then make sure the curve is closed. I drew lines to close curve in places.

Then use this curve as the region for the mop.
