Problem with direction

Post by sco »

Please help me with this issue.
I have been doing 2&1/2 axis milling, cutting some gears out of flat plywood. I have been using the 'engraving' feature, because it allows me to cut 'on condition'. The problem I am having is that when I cut with 2 depths I get a verticle face with a step in it. I have proved that this is caused by the tool cutting in 2 different directions. (I proved it by doing a cut using the 'profile' feature, as it does its cuts in the same direction.)

Does the 'engrave' feature have a 'same direction' selection?
or
Does the 'profile' feature have a 'on condition' selection?

Thankyou.

In multi-depth engraving you need to select the Zig option if you want the cut direction to be the same. You can find this under the Cut Parameters tab of the Mops dialog.

Thankyou for your answer.
For the life of me, I can't see that option anywhere!?

If I select the MOPs tab I get these tabs only...
"Set MCS"
"create/select tool"
"set feeds/speeds"
"clearence control"
"select regions"
"milling methods"
"hole machining"
"machining opperations"
"post process"
If I select "milling methods" then "21/2 axis milling" then "engraving".
The engraving options does not include "zig or zag"

Am I missing somthing?

Thankyou again

You need to be running RhinoCAM 2.0 for Rhino 4.0, our latest product. Please contact [email protected] for an upgrade. It is not free, unfortunately. Besides programming supporting the product we have to eat once in a while! :)
