Machine Geometry Only?

Post by MS1481406606 »

I'm new to Visual Mill, and I couldn't locate the answer on the forum. Prior to purchasing Visual Mill, I was using Meshcam. In that software, there is a selection to either mill whole stock, or mill geometry only. How do I go about creating tool paths that will cut a part out from stock, rather than mill away the entire stock.

Thanks in advance!

You would have to select control geometry to contain toolpath. This could be a closed curve/sketch, a chain of face/surface edges that would result in a closed loop, flat area or a set of part surfaces (applies to 3 axis toolpath methods in version 2017).
