setting tool offsets

Post by Raybuilt »

Hi, I'm using Visualmill 6.0 and Mach3 controller.
If I set Z tool offset in Visualmill, when I run a program the Z goes to the + stops and shuts down. If I don't set the Z tool offsets in Visualmill and do in Mach3, mach 3 just turns off "tool offsets" at the start of a program and doesn't use them.
What is the correct procedure, set tool offsets in Visualmill or Mach3?
Thank you,
Ray

The way I do it is to use the tool numbers and offsets that Mach has stored in my VM tool database. I just match the tool length to my offset in Mach3 and leave it at that.

As long as the Post processor is adding the (Example- Tool 5 and Offset 5)

T5 M6
G43 H5

Then Mach3 should be able to use them as entered. I added a JPG that shows how I add them.
