Toolpath for making perforated edge parts

Post by KRBDESIGN »

Hi I am making some plywood furniture and I need the parts to have a perforated edge to be punched out of the stock sheet at a later date. I would prefer NOT to model all of the holes that this would require.
Does anyone know a good way to program in perforations into a 2.5 axis profile cut, like a dashed line? I tried using dashed linetype in rhino but to no avail. Maybe something with the engraving setting?

In other words, a line like this instead of a solid cut line
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Got it? I hope I am being clear, and no, just leaving a little material below the cut doesnt help, it needs to look intentional.

Thanks any help is greatly appreciated, and feel free to suggest any other ideas or methods

Have you tried using the profiling operation with Bridges positioned strategically to give you this effect?
