Machining outside of Settings?

Post by DareBee »

VM5 seems to go out of its way to machine things it shouldn't when optimized machining is turned on!
I created a horizantal finishing MOP on a part.
In cut levels I set the top height and the bottom height of the area I wanted to machine. There is an XY surface to be cleaned up in this area so I turned on "OPTIMIZED XY MACHINING BETWEEN LEVELS" to set the parameters.
This worked fine for the surface I wanted to cleanup.
The problem is that VM went way out of its way to clean up a surface below and a surface above the MIN and MAX Z levels that I previously set in the cut level dialogue.
If I turn optimized off; VM reverts to only machining stuff between the givin settings.
This really doesnt seem right.
My reseller was in to give me hand and he couldn't figure out why either.

Hi DareBee,
It would be best if you can send us a vmp file that exhibits this behaviour. We will take a look at it to determine what is going on. Please send it to [email protected]
