How do the variables work with the .spm file?

How do the variables work with the .spm file?

I am setting up a Programmable post and I need a couple of the variables in the .spm file that is referenced in the post header. I can't seem to find a way to access all of the variables for instance SPINDLE_Code = S.

Is there a way to do this?
