Response to new product

Post by csharp »

How has the response been to the new product?
I have some concerns about mixing cad and cam.

The response has been very good. We have a lot of customers who have switched over to the VM4SW from standalone VM. On the other hand, there are a lot of customers who prefer the standalone VM for various reasons. Some of the main ones are:
1) They are running multiple CAD systems
2) They are using CAM only on the shop floor
3) There are some features in VisualCAM that are not available in SolidWorks (some CAD features such as flat area region generation, STL machining etc.)

Hope this helps.

I watched one of the tutorials on hole making.

In the tutorial it show all holes as extrude cuts, however most times we use the hole wizard.

What are the options for hole wizard holes?

We don't look at the design features currently. We only look at geometry. However, the next logical step is to start looking at design features and use them for machining. We are look at these for our upcoming releases.
