Can't cut a straight thread

Post by 1384986994 »

Hi,

I am trying to cut a straight 3/4-10" thread on this part and it keeps giving me a tapered toolpath. Here are my initial thread params:
thread params 1.jpg

When I hit Generate, I get a tapered toolpath like this:

If I go back to the parameters, they are changed like this:
thread params 2.jpg

Why does it keep changing my parameters?

Thanks,
Brandon

Brandon,

The start point is projected down to the chamfer on the defined part geometry and this results in a taper.
You can change the start Z coordinate to -0.0620146 so set the start X coordinate to 0.375 and extend the Z clearance 0.1303 for the part in question. With the start & end X coordinates being the same, this would not result in a taper.

We have an enhancement request not have a taper when programming straight threads on turn threading operation .
