Boring Cycle?

Post by 1384986994 »

Hi,

We just installed our seat of Rhino-Turn and we can't seem to figure out the boring cycle. I don't see any options for depth of cut or finish passes? The boring bar just plunges to depth on center and that's all it does?

I am trying to bore a simple 1" diameter X 1" deep counterbore. Here is a picture of the part:

I tried consulting the help file but it said nothing about depth of cut either???

OK, so I found you can change a "turning" operation to Internal for boring. I can make it work with a large ID, but I keep getting internal algorithm failures on this part. I think it may have to do with the tool definition but I have tried many different settings and I keep getting the same message.

Can someone post an example of how to bore this 1" x 1" counterbore with a small boring bar taking about .050" to .100" per pass?

This looks like a geometry specific issue where it fails to generate the Turn ID Roughing toolpath for the defined part.
We were able to generate the toolpath after exploding the polysurface to surfaces in Rhino and joining the surfaces back & redefining the part in RhinoCAM's TURN module.
You could also create a 2D silhouette of the part in Rhino & select this curve to define part geometry in Turning.
We will make a note of this issue and report it to development.
