Step Down Issue

Post by CCBenz »

I have been encountering some problems with the code generated from 4th axis roughing. the step down control is set in the parameters to a value of .027”. When reviewing the tool path I notice that there is consistently a large jump between the pass before the final and the final pass. Typically I have seen as much as double the value set in the parameters. Why is this happening? What can I do to stop it? It has caused numerous tool breakage, :x slower machine cycle times and loss of productivity because I have to sit and watch the machine. I feel that if I set a value, percent or otherwise, the outputted code should reflect that. In all of my 4th axis roughing passes it does not. This leads me to believe that there is a bug in the software.

FYI: i have already contacted support on this. i am putting this out there to see if other users have seen and/or resolved this issue or could tell me what i am doing wrong.

Thanks for the help.
