How do I rotate my part in VM5?

Post by DareBee »

Having installed VM5 I couldn't even figure out how to rotate my part. I wanted to rotate the part about the Z axis, 180 degrees. The default install sets the "Command Preferences" option to Command Line - but there is no documentation as to what you're supposed to enter when asked: "Rotate :: Enter rotation axis vector" What do I enter at the command line to rotate 180 degrees about Z?

Finally under Preferences, I found the Set Command Preferences button for "Dialog Version" and this brought up the familiar dialog box to enter the rotation info.

Cheers!

In the Command line version,
1. you should enter the center of rotation ex: 0,0,0
2. Rotation axis vector start point ex: 0,0,0 (start point of z axis)
3. Rotation axis vector end point ex: 0,0,1 (end point of z axis)
4. Rotation angle ex: 3.14 (for 180 degrees).

Rotation angle is currently taking radians, we will change it to accept degrees.

Hi Friends,

I am on VM5 the first day. And was seeking the Rotate Part option too.
Ther are many Changes made in VM5. This will take a lot of time to learn.

The instruktion from Mecsoft is good, but you can change the Properties from Comandline to Dialog.

Then you can rotate and mirrow as known in VM4 via Dialogbox.

For this select from the Menuebar the Properties of the Commandline and change it to Dialog.

Then select the goemetrie you will transform.
On the Menubar goto EDIT and choose your Command i. e. ROTATE.
The Dialogbox comes up and you can use it as known in VM4.

Best Regards
Peter
