2.5 engraving major malfunction?

Post by DareBee »

I am doing engraving. my flat part surface is 5" above my Z 0
I set my cut depth at .003.
The generated toolpath is way above my part and when it goes to transfer between each letter the tool runs way down to zero ( or close to zero anyway) through the part and back up again.
If i set my cut depth to 4.997" the program works properly.
This is a serious problem and has cost me days of uninstall reinstall, trying different computers and what-not trying to sort it out. I have been messing with this for a few weeks now.

As well it would be great if you could get visual to recognize "stick" font. Any single "region" font i have tried to import through AutoCad, SolidWorks(igs or stl), VisualMill 5 always converts it to dual line. I could find no single region font in the VM5 text either.
It would save me time if I could engrave simple single line text.

The engraving problem has been fixed and will be available in the service pack 1.

You can do stick letters using XPERT DNC editor that comes along with the product

Thanks

I hope the next upgrade/patch is available soon.
I have been interogating my reseller as I have not yet recieved my DNC software. I guess it got stuck at the border or something.
