Here is a creative example of using CNC to celebrate the holiday season. B&H Stair Company makes beautiful staircases for their customers around the Colorado area and the intermountain west. This year, they decided to use some of the scrap wood pieces from their stair projects to create beautiful wood ornaments fit for any holiday setting.
Each ornament is made from high quality hardwoods, such as cherry, hickory, or maple. They are shaped using CNC machines, assembled, and then coated with a professional and lasting finish. Each ornament has a hollow wooden sphere as its main component that shows an engraved message, symbol, or logo. Standard engraved messages are available as well as the option for a custom message, if desired.
Robert Horenn at B&H Stair said that the messages on these ornaments are programmed using RhinoCAM’s 4-axis Engraving Operation and then engraved using a 1/16th inch diameter cutter. The hollow sphere and ‘thru’ lettering gives a sense of depth and appeal to the ornaments. The natural wood provides a warmth and beauty that is always welcome for the holidays. These ornaments are truly unique and special.
Robert also admitted that creating these ornaments is a good exercise for him to further learn and use RhinoCAM, which he recently started using for the stair business.
As a gesture of good will and appreciation, Robert recently sent one of the ornaments to MecSoft with the MECSOFT name engraved on it.
Thank you and best wishes to Robert and everyone at B&H Stair from all of us at MecSoft.
